Bollywood celebrities pay an advance tax to the government from their incomes of all sources. Advance tax is a part payment of your income before the end of a financial year. This time, emerging as the highest advance tax payer is Salman Khan. The actor had a splendid year with films such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo faring brilliantly at the box office.
Salman became the highest tax payer for the year as he paid a tax amount of 32 crore. Coming a close second to him is Akshay Kumar who paid 30 crore as advance tax. Both the actors have paid at least 6-7 crore more than last year.
In spite of box office failures, Ranbir Kapoor is the third highest tax payer. He has paid 22.30 crore this year.
Ten crores lesser than the previous year, Shah Rukh Khan paid an amount of 20 crore. Aamir Khan is quite close to SRK with his payment of 19.6 crore.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan paid 17.50 crore advance tax for 2015-16. Ajay Devgn paid the same amount as last year, 5 crore. Actress Priyanka Chopra whose Hollywood stint has made her a global icon, paid 1.45 crore advance tax this year.
The superstars are setting a good example to follow with such sincere tax payments.
