For all those wondering about why Kick is yet to go on floors even though it was announced quite some time back, the reason is simple. Neither Salman Khan nor producer (and now director) Sajid Nadiadwala wish to give it a quickie treatment. The idea is to make it larger, grander and much more massive than the ‘Telugu’ original which means there is some intense ground work being put together before those associated with the film hit the sets.
“Kick is truly a unique project and there is a lot of stake for everyone involved. Vision for the film is really grand. It is not a quickie remake in the making that chalo, we have a subject in place, the remake rights handy, DVD available and a superstar on board, so we can start and finish in a go! No, that’s not the way Kick is being envisaged,” says a source associated with the film.
Instead, Salman and Sajid are looking into future. Since he has already done an action packed Ek Tha Tiger last year, Kick has to be many notched ahead.
“Also, let’s not forget that Kick would arrive after the release of Dhoom:3 and Krrish 3. The film has to be at least on par, if not ahead,” the source continues, “The idea is to capitalise on the platform available and make it as huge as it can get.”
Fortunately for Salman, the original was an out and out thrilling affair with quite a few action sequences, including high adrenalin chase sequences forming a major part of the narrative. This gives the Hindi remake ample opportunities to get innovative where action would be the script’s requirement, and not forced.
The source adds, “Sajid is also making his directorial debut with the film and is very keen that it does well. He has a very strong relationship with Salman and with the latter egging him to don the hat of a director, he can’t let him down. More than just on a personal note, he is feeling all the more responsible to honour a strong professional commitment as well. When you have an actor coming with five back to back blockbusters behind him, you do everything under the sun to make it large.”
