The Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking cancellation of actor Salman Khan’s bail in the 2002 hit and run case. On May 6, Khan was found guilty and was sentenced to five years’ jail for various charges, including ‘culpable homicide not amounting to murder’.
Chief Justice H L Dattu led bench declined the plea by one of the alleged victims associated with the case and belonging to Mumbai Police. The Bombay High Court order of granting bail to Salman Khan was challenged by the petitioner.

Late constable Ravindra Patil’s mother had filed PIL in SC seeking cancellation of Salman Khan’s bail. Meanwhile BJP had also filed PIL for the same but it was also dismissed by SC
