It was just yesterday when we heard the news regarding one of Bollywood’s biggest production houses Yash Raj Films pocketing 100 crores worth of music royalties. Now, singer-composer Salim Merchant, of the duo Salim-Sulaiman, has come forward to reveal some shocking facts about the same.
The news stated that Yash Raj Films has been garnering royalties of Indian Performing Rights Society’s (IPRS) members. The report stated that YRF has “prevented the body from collecting royalties from telecom companies, radio stations and music streaming platforms by pressuring artists into signing illegal agreements.”
Salim Merchant has worked for Yash Raj Films on various films in the past. Some of them include Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Band Baaja Baarat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Rocket Singh: Sales Man Of The Year a Chak De! India and Neal n Nikki. He revealed that he hasn’t worked with Yash Raj Films for the same reason. He also talked about the unpaid dues and why he isn’t working with YRF for last four years.
