Is that a case of grabbing on to an opportunity, bringing real life closer to reel life or a smart marketing tactic? While debates around this and more is all set to soar, the fact remains that Karan Johar has managed to hit the first strike on target by bringing real life story of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone back in limelight with ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’.
“What starts off as an out and out fun-n-frolic promo ends with Deepika requesting Ranbir to stay away lest she falls in love with him…..again. They key word here is ‘again’ since the world is aware of how the duo was the hottest couple in town before they went through a much hyped break up”, informs a source.
In fact when they had decided to return as co-stars in Ayan Mukherjee’s ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, tongues had started wagging on whether that was indeed the right move. After all, nothing was hidden about their very public break up and since both had seemingly moved on, their pairing did fuel rumours of something really ensuing.
“Now with Deepika professing her helplessness – albeit on screen – before Ranbir when it comes to matters of heart (and that too second time over), it has been a teasing trick no less by the makers. There is a clear indication that the makers want audience to remember how things changed between the couple over a period of time and perhaps there was a fire still igniting in their hearts for each other”, the source adds.
Though at one point in time there were rumours that Deepika and Ranbir had come together again during the course of film’s making, the stance of ‘we are just friends’ maintained by the duo ended up diluting the speculations.
“Things may just change though over next couple of months as the hype generates for ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’. You never know what Karan has in mind for the marketing and promotional strategy for the film”, a close associate adds.
Incidentally, after her break up with Ranbir, Deepika had done ‘Break Ke Baad’ with Imran Khan. Now will ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ end up giving her love life a second chance? Well, that’s going to keenly awaited for sure!
