Mission Mangal: Here’s How The ISRO, Satellites & Rockets Were Recreated For The Akshay Kumar Starrer!

Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal is amongst the most anticipated and promising upcoming Bollywood films. The film talks about ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission and how it happened despite all the odds and challenges.

In the trailer of Mission Mangal, we all got to have a look at what’s supposed to be ISRO’s control room. But did you think how was it created in the first place? Or they shot at the ISRO itself? Well, they were not allowed to do so.

So the production designer of Mission Mangal, Sandeep Sharad Ravade, who has earlier worked for Baby & Parmanu talked about creating sets for the film and what went in to do so.

In a recent interaction with Mumbai Mirror, Sandeep talked about creating ISRO’s control room & workstation. Sandeep has been quoted as saying, “We could not enter ISRO. A day before our visit, the appointment was cancelled. But our director had visited ISRO multiple times with his production team, and based on their conversation, books and Google research we built the set at Film City. We took some cinematic liberties. Our 100 feet by 80 feet control room was 20-25 percent smaller than the actual control room at ISRO. The work station was also relatively smaller, around 30 feet by 50 feet.”
