Social media, particularly Twitter, has become a battleground and most of the time it’s film celebrities who get into trouble by getting bashed for fake posts. The latest victim of such a hoax is Jaaved Jaaferi. And as we all know, the veteran actor remains mum despite being trolled on several occasions, this time he has broken his silence as the issue is intentionally put forth to disrupt Hindu Muslim brotherhood.
A few days ago, one Facebook user shared a fake screenshot which was said to be of Jaaved Jaaferi’s tweet. The whole context of the tweet was about some people from the Hindu community being intolerant. Considering the seriousness of the issue, Jaaved has now posted a video on his Twitter account to clarify about the screenshot and also informed about taking legal action by filing a defamation suit against the alleged user.
Take a look at the fake screenshot:
This screen shot of a tweet attributed to me is fake and insidious and made viral by the rampant #FakeNews scum. My tweets and speeches have always promoted communal harmony and in today’s trying time’s where the world unites to fight an enemy of humanity, #****off #HateMongers pic.twitter.com/Y7NIi00zmv

I normally don’t post personal videos inspite of being trolled often, but had to now. In a time when humanity is faced with a pandemic and race religion colour country are no concern, some Indians are still indulging in #FakeNews #HinduMuslim #HateMongering.

In the video, he quotes, “Recently people spread a screenshot of some tweet in my name and called me names on and it went viral. Hate spreads so easily in this country. First of all, the screenshot is fake. Neither have I tweeted anything like that nor is that my Twitter profile picture. Had I tweeted that at least someone would have replied to it. The one, who took the screenshot, would have also criticized it.”
“Like your agenda, this screenshot is also fake. People should have at least verified. Now, either you prove its authenticity or make a video and apologize. We have learnt that this fake tweet was first shared on Facebook by some Arvind Patel. There will be a legal inquiry against him because our honourable Prime Minister has said that strict action should be taken against fake news and hatemongers. So, we are going to file a defamation suit against him,” he adds further.
Well, we just hope that such cases of fake news should be immediately addressed!
