As the issue of economic refugees weighs heavy on the conscience of the world, an Italian film tackling the issue, Despite the Fog is set to open the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2019). The 100-minute film directed by Goran Paskaljevic is a renowned filmmaker, who had earlier picked up honours at several European film festivals.

The film narrates the tale of a child whose parents drown while trying to migrate to Italy in a rubber boat. The boy is eventually found by a childless local couple. The co-production by three European nations will make its Asian premiere at IFFI 2019.
