Shah Rukh Khan’s Ra.One is due on Diwali. His past films like Om Shanti Om, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer-Zaara and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were also Diwali releases. After Wanted in 2009 and Dabangg in 2010, Bodyguard was the third Salman Khan starrer to have released on the festive occasion of Ramzan Eid this year. Aamir Khan is fond of getting his films on Christmas (Ghajini in 2007, Taare Zameen Par in 2008 and 3 Idiots in 2009). That means, each of the three major festivals has been monopolised by a Khan. Which is not to say that a Khan cannot release his film in any other week. For instance, after releasing Ra.One on Diwali this year, Shah Rukh Khan will release Don 2 on Christmas this year itself. Of course, Aamir has no film scheduled for release this Christmas. This monopolising of the festival weeks also does not mean that another producer cannot release his film during these weeks. But yes, it definitely means that the other producers would, in all likelihood, have to contend with a Khan release in direct opposition of their film.
