There are too many tags associated with him. Some call him bubbly, some consider him wild. While Ranveer Singh thinks there is nothing wrong with assigning tags for people’s smooth cognition, there indeed is something gravely amiss about getting typecast into a mould. When the outrageously dressed garish boy from Band Baaja Baarat slipped into the suave Lootera in Vikramaditya Motwane’s poetic film, it was evident Ranveer isn’t okay with having a set image.
While talking to Koimoi about his recent successes in the advertisement world with Ching’s and Durex, the actor spoke about how the need to show range is the source of his zeal. Singh explained, “I believe I don’t do anything just for the sake of it. I have to do something with everything. I am not old, neither am I wise. I understand the fragility of life and the value of opportunities. When I hurt my back in Lootera, I was lying there not knowing if I could action again or dance again. I don’t take things for granted. For me every movie I do, is the last movie I will ever do. Every ad I do is the last ad I will ever do. Every cameo is my last cameo. Every shot I give is the last shot I will ever give.”
Usually actors prefer sticking to a certain image till they become superstars and then look to experiment. Ranveer believes in using his ‘jawaani’ for something better than being just the wild boy of Bollywood. He elaborated, “Versatility is very high on my priority list. For every Ching’s there will be a Maruti. For every Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl there will be a Lootera. I love switching from things to another. There shouldn’t be an image for an actor. Atleast in my formative years I want to display range.”
Ranveer is wrapping up the shoot of Dil Dhadakne Do in a few days and will begin shooting on Bajirao Mastani from next day onward. Hardworking, Energetic and lively, Singh has a lot more depth as a person than his fans can ever imagine. Usually seen as a happy-go-lucky chap, he can be equally worldly wise when needed.
