Sex Comedies have become a rage in India and with many filmmakers and writers traversing that way, the films filled with sexual innuendos are becoming the regular norm. It will be natural for an Emraan Hashmi, who has the persona and image of a lip smacking smooch-boy to slip into one of these but Hashmi has his own reservations and objections towards such films.
He, in an interview to Koimoi, exclaimed (with disgust almost), “I am okay with sex comedies. But not the way they do it in our country. I have a major problem with these adult comedies. I haven’t seen them but at least from the promos, they don’t make me laugh, they are demeaning towards women and I don’t think that is comedy.”
Emraan stayed clear of acting all chaste and explained, “For me adult comedy is something like American Pie, which is a coming of age film. You can’t really put a woman down or show the sleaze to a point where it becomes annoying. I think that is how comedies are over here. I don’t think I will have to do.”
Emraan himself is looking for an image change and hence he has been evading his quintessential variety of films lately. Shanghai, Ghanchakkar and now Ungli, Emraan is treading on the trendsetting path!
