When Emraan Hashmi was approached with the script of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Ek Thi Daayan, that deals with the dark mysteries of witch craft, he simply loved the script and gave the nod at one go. It was during discussions with director Kannan Iyer that Emraan came to know that the evil practices of Witch Craft existed in cities even today.
Says a source, “Emraan was literally surprised when director Kannan Iyer told him that he knew the whereabouts of its existence.”
Finally director Kannan Iyer decided to accompany Emraan to his own apartment complex to point out evidences that indicated rampant practice of the dark arts.
Director Iyer informs, “We often don’t pay attention to our immediate surroundings. But there are so many groups in our country that believe in these cults and they leave a certain mark in certain places. These signs and shapes have significance that is best known to them. I showed Emraan strange symbols and he was convinced.”
The director adds, “We all like mysteries and have a fascination for black magic, witches and ghosts.”
Starring Emraan Hashmi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin and Huma Qureshi, Ek Thi Daayan is slated to release on 18th April, 2013.
