The Black Lives Matter movement, is schooling everyone about the grave problem of racism that still exists around us in abundance. The recent person to call it out is Diet Prada who has pointed out a top American magazine’s problematic moments. The fashion police have accused the magazine of using Deepika Padukone just as a prop.

The magazine in question here is American Vogue 2019’s April issue. The issue was dedicated as a celebration of global talent. The cover featured Black Widow fame Scarlett Johansson, along with Deepika Padukone and Adesua Etimo.

According to Diet Prada, Vogue’s cover only signifies that white people are still very much in the centre. On the cover, Scarlett Johansson was placed in the centre, while Deepika Padukone and Adesua Etomi were on the sides. The fact the people of colour are pushed to the sides and used like props is what the fashion police condemned.
