Ranbir Kapoor’s journey in the Hindi film industry is nothing less than of a ‘Bollywood film’. Though his début film Saawariya flopped, his charm took over the youngsters and saw a huge female fan base. And since then he has had an interesting ride with semi hits, hits and blockbusters. However, after sleeper blockbusters like Barfi and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, incredulity prevailed with Besharam and Roy. But, did the actor regret losing one and a half years between these two films? Probably not!
In an interaction with media he said, “As long as you come with good cinema & entertaining work, it doesn’t matter how many years have passed. But it’s fine, as an actor, you have to be patient, as long as your work is good, as long as everything is going good. I don’t think timing has anything to do with this.”

Further ask him as an actor whether he goes through introspection before signing up a film and after the release of film and look into as what went wrong he explains – “I don’t have any particular method or a process as such. Luckily whatever films I have done had many good directors like Anurag Basu, Ayan Mukerji, Imtiaz Ali and many whose names I don’t recall now. I have developed a comfort with all of them, and they are good story tellers and are interested in cinema by telling good entertaining stories. There is no such thought process – like whether I should do a romantic or a comedy film after having done one action film. I think the time is good, I am getting good opportunities, so I can easily understand and easily take up films, when time is bad, when all these directors are not there, then probably I have to think more. Right now I am very fortunate that all these directors are offering me such good characters, I don’t need to plan anything.”
Elaborating on does he introspects as to what went wrong with a particular film failing, he adds, “Yes, of course, but I don’t take it too seriously because you understand on the day of its release and you introspect probably for an hour or two and then you move ahead, because you are already on your next project.”
After a descending phase, Bombay Velvet is a crucial film for Ranbir Kapoor to avoid the hat trick of flops and bounce back like never before. The film starring Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar and directed by Anurag Kashyap has hit the screens today.
