While actor Sanjay Dutt is expected to surrender today, there is breath of relief for Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case. The Rajasthan High Court rejected a revision petition filed against actor Khan by the state government for revision of charges under Arms Act in the blackbucks poaching case of 1998.
The actor while shooting in Rajasthan for Hum Saath Saath Hai 14 years ago hunted a blackbuck which is one of India’s dwindling species today. However, the actor will no longer be required to make special appearances at the Jodhpur Court, where the case currently in proceeding.
After the lower court rejected the revision petition, the government had moved the high court 2006, saying it wanted to make changes in the chargesheet filed against Salman for possession of arms. The same case had booked Salman for illegal possession of arms in 2006.
The other offenders in the same case were actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam. They have all been co-charged with killing two blackbucks on the night of 1st October, 1998.
