As the lockdown relief has started coming into play, one of Bollywood’s busiest superstars has started getting back to work. Akshay Kumar kickstarted the Unlock 1 period by shooting for a short film, Ayushman Bharat with R Balki. Now, he is all set to start shooting for his upcoming films.
Like always, Akshay Kumar has multiple films in the lineup but this time due to an unprecedented break, he has a little backlog to finish. Below is the list of films that Akshay Kumar will start or resume shooting soon.
1) Prithviraj
2) Bachchan Pandey
3) Bell Bottom
4) Atrangi Re
5) Ekta Kapoor’s Action Comedy
6) Maneesh Sharma’s Next
The first one among all these will be Bell Bottom and it will be shot in foreign locations. Sharing the details and why Akshay Kumar chose to shot this film first, an inside source told Mumbai Mirror, “The reason he decided to film Bell Bottom first is that the narrative does not require too many crowd scenes or large-scale action. Akshay usually wraps up a film in 40-50 days. This one will be shot abroad for a month, followed by minor spells on a set in India. If all goes as planned, it should be complete by the end of September. The team is currently awaiting permission to take off for foreign shores.”
Soon after Bell Bottom, Akshay Kumar will jump on Prithviraj which is probably his first period film and also among the most awaited Bollywood films. A major chunk of Prithviraj’s shoot is left, talking about the same, the source added, “Around 40 percent of the shoot remains and Akshay is looking to resume work from October-end. The historical needs to be mounted on a certain scale and so the makers are in no hurry to join the race to the finish.”
Then there is Atrangi Re as well with Aanand L Rai, Sara Ali Khan & Dhanush. Talking about Akshay’s schedule for the same, the source explained, “It is an outdoor shoot across the country, which is why they’re yet to decide on the dates. It’s just two weeks’ work for Akshay and once the situation improves, he will work the film into his schedule.”
The shooting for Atrangi Re was expected to start from April but the plans vanished due to the pandemic. Akshay Kumar plays a special role in the film.
Bachchan Pandey starring Akshay Kumar & Kriti Sanon in the lead is also among the most talked about upcoming entertainers. The source talked about the upcoming Sajid Nadiadwala film being directed by Farhad Samji and said, “The screenplay and dialogue of this out-and-out entertainer with lavishly-mounted songs and action scenes, is locked and everyone, including leading lady Kriti Sanon, is excited to get started.”
The film will be shot in the Dec-January period.
Meanwhile, this is going to be a crazy working schedule for Akshay Kumar with back to films so he will be taking much-needed breaks after every film. “He has a team in place to ensure that all SOPs are strictly followed by everyone. Safety will be the priority on the set.”
After all this, Akshay Kumar also has an action comedy film with Ekta Kapoor – which is the remake of a Telugu film, as well as Maneesh Sharma’s untitled next film.
Meanwhile, Rohit Shetty directed Sooryavanshi is going to be Akshay Kumar’s only film which will have chances to hit cinemas this year. The film co-starring Katrina Kaif was earlier slated to release on March 24. If all goes well, it is expected to release on coming Diwali now. Laxmmi Bomb which was expected to be Akshay Kumar’s Eid release will directly release on OTT platform Disney + Hotstar now.
