Akshay Kumar Rustom Uniform Controversy: “It’s A Crime To Sell Uniform,” Says GD Bakshi

Recently there was a news that Actor Akshay Kumar is putting up the naval uniform, which he donned in the film Rustom, for auction. But, unfortunately, this created a stir of controversy as Major General GD Bakshi has said that it’s a crime to sell uniform.

In a conversation with CNN News 18, GD Bakshi said it’s a crime to sell your medals or uniforms, “Fact is a uniform is a uniform and frankly if you go through defense service regulations, it’s a crime to pawn or sell your medals and uniform. Uniform which Akshay was imitating in Rustom was as authentic as any other uniform stitched. You gave it so he can portray the role of an officer and you’re bound by the same sentiments and rules.”

It was said that the proceedings from the bid will support the cause of animal welfare.

Akshay, who won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Rustom, on Thursday tweeted a photograph from the film.

Alongside the photograph, it was written: “Win the original Naval uniform I wore in the movie Rustom. Bidding closes May 26.”

Rustom, a period thriller, is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. It also stars actress Ileana D’Cruz. The film is based on the real life incident of Naval Officer K. M. Nanavati and businessman Prem Ahuja.
