Soon after 1994 which was the beginning of a new age for Bollywood, the business of the films shot up exponentially. Many theatres were renovated which definitely worked in favour of the exhibitors and producers as well.

If before ’94 no film was able to touch 15 crores mark except Sholay, in ’96 there were 5 films to do so. In fact, Aamir Khan & Karisma Kapoor’s Raja Hindustani did 45 crores business. Of course, it was less than Hum Aapke Hain Koun (71 crores) & Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (53.50 crores) but was still an excellent number according to ticket rates of those times.
