Join UsFilmmaker Priyadarshan may have taken a diversion with the action film Tezz, but that doesn’t mean he’s left comedy behind. The director started shooting for his next film, Malamaal Weekly 2, in Wahi on 17 February.
While Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani and Shakti Kapoor have been retained from Malamaal Weekly, Shreyas Talpade and Nana Patekar are the additions to the star cast in this sequel. Nana Patekar, who will be seen in a comedy film after ages, is excited to be part of a Priyan film, “We had planned so many films, but it feels so good when one film happens. More than anything else, I love to act and leave the rest to my director. That is what happens with Priyan.”
So who has Priyadarshan managed to rope in as Nana’s romantic interest? “The only person Nana can be romantic in this film is me. He is a director’s actor. He doesn’t need a woman,” quips the director.
With the film being in the pipeline for so long, producer Shailendra Singh explains, “We wanted a league of extraordinary gentlemen, extraordinary actors, who would bring their own flavour and add value to the script. Co-ordinating their dates was no easy task.” Looking at the talented cast, we sure hope it was worth it and gives us a lot of laughter to look forward to!
