After impressing us in the trailer, the makers of Hichki have released the first song from the film today.

The song is titled Oye Hichki and it addresses prevalent societal discriminations, in other words – Hichkis, such as a preference for fair skin, partiality towards people with disabilities, females not having the right to make certain choices among others.

Rani is seen asking people to get rid of discrimination from society because our caste, race, religion, complexion, socio-economic background, upbringing, etc. do not define us. Rani loudly says that our talent, our achievements and the positive contribution we make to our society is our only identity.

Rani in this video highlights how each challenge needs to be taken head on and only then can we win over them. The song is sung by Harshdeep Kaur and it is composed by Jasleen Royal. Check out the song here:

Speaking about the song, producer Maneesh Sharma said, “Oye Hichki is a phrase that captures the many subtle and not-so-subtle biases and prejudices that many of us see and live with every day. The video salutes the spirit that faces up to these challenges.”
