‘Kokilaben’ Rupal Patel REACTS To Gopi-Rashi Cooker Video & Memes: “Only Prominent Characters Or Personalities…”

It all started when an Instagram user named Yashraj Mukhate shared a scene from Saath Nibhana Saathiya. In this scene, an angry Kokilaben is yelling her Gopi Bahu (Gia Manek). Rupal’s character questions Gopi who was in the kitchen and who placed an empty cooker by removing all the chickpeas from it. A terrified Gopi answers, “Rashi Ben”. Well, that’s when the musical treat starts.
Yashraj Mukhate turned this simple and hilarious dialogue into a catchy line which every second person is humming. ‘Yeh Rashi thi, cooker se chane nikaal diye aur khali cooker gas par chadha diya’, are no more dialogues but a rap. Now, Rupal Patel has reacted to the video and all the Kokilaben-Rashi memes.
In an interaction with Times of India, Rupal Patel said, “Kokila was the role of a lifetime, and I have the deepest gratitude for the show’s makers and the channel. There is a moment, an incident or a character in an artiste’s life, that becomes a milestone. Kokila is that for me. It’s such a lively character. People appreciate it for various things — her voice, authority, look and the way she balanced her two bahus, who were as different as chalk and cheese. She is your ideal saas. The show and the characters’ simplicity is what connected with viewers.”
The Saath Nibhana Saathiya actress is not on any social media platform. It was her sister-in-law who sent her this rap video. Even her Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke co-star Rhea Sharma showed her the same video. Her first reaction was of surprise and shocked. The actress was amazed at how Yashraj got this clip as she never sang on the show. She then realised he has made a rap of his dialogues. She liked it very much and got his number from a few friends. Rupal spoke to him and expressed her gratitude.
Further, she reacted to not only the latest Rashi memes, but memes in general about Kokilaben. Rupal Patel said, “A viewer expresses his appreciation in different ways. It could be a funny response, too. Why should I feel offended? That’s one of the ways to express your love, too. I always go by the intent behind the response. Aur mujhe woh kabhi galat nahi laga. The character has made a mark on people’s minds and hence, they remember it to date. In fact, a lady would impersonate me on a video-sharing social networking service. I found it very funny. I don’t mind that at all, as I know intent is not to harm or offend anyone. Neeyat par sab kuchh nirbhar karta hai. Only prominent characters or personalities become a subject of memes or caricatures, and I am proud that Kokilaben is one of them.”
