Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is one of the much-awaited Tamil films of this year. TJ Gnanavel wrote and directed the Tamil action drama. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier, among others. After 33 years, Rajinikanth and Big B will be sharing screen space together.
The movie was announced in March 2023 as ‘Thalaivar 170’. TJ Gnanavel, who earlier directed Jai Bhim with Suriya, narrated the story to the Jailer actor, who immediately liked the script. The cast began with the filming in October last year.
Vettaiyan Release Details
Today, the film’s production house, Lyca Productions, announced on social media that the film will release in October 2024. They shared a new poster announcing the exciting news. In their post on X (formerly Twitter), the team wrote, “Happy Pongal to all”. It is indeed a fantastic gift to all the Thalaiva fans! Also, we have to wait 6 months to see Rajinikanth & Amitabh Bachchan together on screen, after so long.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Kishore, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Shaji Chen, Ramesh Thilak, and others. For Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth will play a cop. The shooting for the film has been happening in Hyderabad. In February, a video of the actor reaching the sets was shared on the X platform.
Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music for Vettaiyan. Anirudh earlier composed music for Rajini sir movies like Petta, Darbar, and Jailer. SR Kathir is the cinematographer, and Philomin Raj is the editor of the 2024 cop action drama.

This is the second time fans will get to see their favourite Thalaiva on screen in 2024. Rajinikanth made a special appearance in Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s movie Lal Salaam, which stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles.
