Chetan Bhagat, an alumnus of the same is immensely excited for multiple reasons. With another novel of his being adapted into a film, the feathers on his cap are endless. He has also penned down the screenplay of the film, 2 States which is based on his 2009 novel of the same name.

An evidently autobiographical tinge of the story, the film is partly based on his own life and his marriage to wife, Anusha, who he met at IIM(A). The film is expected to be one of the most notable romantic comedies of recent times encapsulating the Punjabi-Tamil cultural rift and how the romance of two young, culturally different people, survives the test of their respective brethrens.

Bhagat excitedly tweeted today, “In Ahmedabad, starting a week long Gujarat interiors trip, with NatGeo, as part of my endeavour to understand rural India better. But first, will visit the 2 States film set. And my old college. Oh wait, both are the same today. 2 States – the film, at IIMA today!”

This is the fourth book of Bhagat to be adapted into a film, the previous ones being Hello (2008), 3 Idiots (2009) and the very recent Kai Po Che! which released in February, 2013. 2 States is being directed by Abhishek Verman and is expected to release sometime later this year.
