Will Smith & Warner Bros Settle Suit Over Biopic ‘King Richard’

We are aware of the fact that Will Smith, was all set to make a new film, King Richard, which is going to be a biopic on Serena and Venus Williams’ father.
But, soon after the announcement, Richard Williams has been sued over the movie rights to his life story raising champion tennis players Venus and Serena Williams.
Less then two months ago TW3 Entertainment and Power Move Multi-Media filed a breach of contract complaint against Will Smith, Richard Williams, his son and Warner Bros, among others, over King Richard. But, fortunately, the parties have reached a settlement deal.
According to WB tonight, after the paperwork was put forth in LA Superior Court last week the matter was resolved informally. However, resolved might be a bit of a stretch.
According to Deadline, Judge Mel Red Recana signed an order on August 7 which said, “have entered into a settlement of this matter, and Plaintiffs are dismissing their claims against these defendants with prejudice.”
And while the plaintiffs are expecting to be pocketing some cash, Power Move and TW3 also want the courts to maintain jurisdiction over the parties to make sure they pay up like they’re supposed to in the next three weeks.
King Richards which is slated to release in 2021 may still be shut down from concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. Well a lot of drama has unfolded even before the movie has released, we are waiting to see what this film turns out to be.
