Whoever works with Robert Downey Jr has something interesting to say about it. Some celebrities praise his dedication, while some can’t get enough of his wit and attitude. Now, director-actress Jodie Foster has something to say about the Iron Man star. Foster talked about how she was concerned about his career during his initial days when he was dealing with drug addiction, months before his career sank. She also praised Robert for his work ethic now.
Jodie Foster and Robert Downey Jr worked together in 1995 for the film Home For The Holidays. Jodie directed the family comedy-drama, which stars RDJ, Holly Hunter, Anne Bancroft, Charles Durning, Dylan McDermott and others. In an interview, Foster recalls her conversation with the Avengers: Endgame actor while working on the film.
In an interview with Esquire Magazine, Jodie Foster revealed she told Robert Downey Jr – “Look, I couldn’t be more grateful for what you’ve given in this film. But I’m scared of what happens to you next. Right now, you are incredibly good at balancing on the barstool. But it’s really precarious, and I’m not sure how that’s going to end.”
In the same interview, the Panic Room star praised the Oppenheimer actor. Jodie called Robert Downey Jr a genius and said there was more creativity in his little finger than she would have in her entire life. However, the director believes Downey Jr didn’t have discipline. Foster added, “He was so out there that all of that wonderful talent was kind of just, like, flailing his arms in the water and making a big mess. But it was in there somewhere, right? Because now he is somebody who’s become disciplined almost as a way of surviving. I have faith in people’s ability to change if they want it, and he really wanted it.”
Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr struggled due to his drug addiction from the 90s till the early 2000s. He was even arrested several times. However, when he decided to stop it, his life completely changed. RDJ worked in Jon Favreau’s Marvel movie Iron Man and never returned to the old days. Today, he is one of Hollywood’s best talents and won his first Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category for Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
