Marvel movies actors always have something interesting to say. Some talk about how they always wanted to play a particular superhero, while some reveal they got involved in the franchise when they had nothing else to do. Actor Stellan Skarsgard, who was recently busy with Dune 2 promotions, opened up about his thoughts when he signed up for the MCU movies. The versatile actor played Erik Selvig, an astrophysicist in Thor movies.
Stellan Skarsgard’s last appearance in the MCU was in the 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the Mamma Mia actor shared that when one signs up for one movie, they must sign up for four. However, he had fun while shooting the first movie.
About his initial thoughts, Stellan Skarsgard said, “The film was fun. We lived in Santa Fe, where they have more Birkenstocks and grey ponytails than anywhere else in the United States. No, I wasn’t excited. I was… what the f-ck? I didn’t know much about Thor, Or I knew about the real Thor, but I didn’t know much about the comic books. So the thing was that Kenneth Branagh was directing it, and he’s good. I said, ‘OK, I’ll do it’. But the thing is, when you sign up for one of these, you sign up for four, so I felt I sold my soul to the devil, but I didn’t, because especially the first one, I had a lot of fun.”

Further, the Dune 2 actor added that Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, and he mainly were together in scenes and had a lot of fun. He would listen to both actresses talk about men as they were mostly stuck in a car. The actor revealed that he continued doing Marvel movies after the first one because he still had a contract. He said, “You don’t have to be too pretentious about what you do. It’s not a crime to do not-high-brow all the time.” Including Thor, Stellan Skarsgard appeared in 5 MCU movies – Thor: The Dark World, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Love and Thunder.
Meanwhile, Stellan Skarsgard’s recent release, Dune 2, received rave reviews worldwide. The Denis Villeneuve directorial is based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name. Stellan plays the villain Baron Harkonnen in the film, which also stars Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista and others.
