It’s time to rejoice for all Indians as the film, The Disciple, is making us proud by rising Indian cinema’s esteem internationally. The Marathi film directed by Chaitanya Tamhane has made history at the Venice Film Festival.

Starring Aditya Modak, Arun Dravid, Sumitra Bhave and Kiran Yadnyopavit, the film is selected for main international competition. Written by Chaitanya Tamhane, the film is bankrolled by Vivek Gomber.

The Disciple has been selected for the 77th Venice International Film Festival, thus becoming the first Indian film to be selected in 20 years. The last film to be selected from India was Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding (2001).
