Coyote Ugly To Soon Get A Sequel? Here’s What Tyra Banks Has To Say

Coyote Ugly was a very successful when it released 2 decades back. Now as the film celebrates its 20th anniversary, actress Tyra Banks teases a possible sequal! Yes, you read that!
Speaking to a leading portal on the 20th anniversary of the film, Tyra Banks said that she has a very strong desire to make a sequel to the film. What’s more, is that the actress also pitched her idea to the producer of the original film Jerry Bruckheimer.
The Coyote Ugly star told Variety, “I’ve had a passion to do a sequel to Coyote Ugly for some time now. I’ve even reached out to [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer and the team and the original writer and they’ve had some jam sessions on what it could possibly be.”
Tyra Banks’ co-star Piper Perabo too is of the same opinion. While she would love to have a more feminist cast, Piper said that Coyote Ugly 2 will need to have a more evolved script. Speaking to Variety in the same interview, Piper said, “When Tyra and I were DMing, I was like, ‘We have to really think about it,’ because obviously we’re all 20 years older and we have to rethink the story. Like, ‘Who owns the bar? What are we all doing? Do we all still know each other? And what’s it about?’ Because that movie in 2000, that was a really different moment, that was the sort of stiletto-feminism and women’s rights and we’re maybe in the third wave of feminism now and things have evolved and I would want the movie to reflect that evolution.”
Coyote Ugly was written by Todd Graff and Gina Wendkos and directed by David McNally. The film is originally owned by Disney which is making it difficult for the makers to go ahead with the sequel. Meanwhile, the film made a brilliant collection of almost 1 million dollars when it released 20 years ago.
