Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse would often be spotted with their entire gang. Well, it isn’t a hidden fact that the Riverdale team is really close to each other. But the first image of the couple ‘only’ was seen as a birthday post. The Hustlers actress wished her co-star on his birthday with an adorable photo of the two.
This event was followed by the beauty sharing another cute photo featuring the two. Sprouse laid his head on his on-screen lovers’ lap. “Betty & Juggy,” she captioned the photo smartly before any linkup rumours began.
It was in October, when Cole shared a solo picture of Lili, that it grabbed eyeballs. She could be seen looking away from the lens in this beautiful capture. However, not much could be decoded as the actor had shared a similar post featuring Madelaine Petsch as well.
February 2017 – The Tempting Teaser!
Lili Reinhart took to her Twitter and shared a sultry picture of herself. The actress wore a furry jacket and went braless for the shoot. She shared a peach emoticon with her post. Cole continued to flaunt his photography skills with Lili being his muse. Fans still weren’t sure as the Five Feet Apart actor has shared posts of multiple women. One of them was even Kendall Jenner.
The Chemical Hearts actress was no less. She was hinting things from her end too. Time and again, the beauty would leave a quirky comment on her rumoured beau’s posts.
The couple even went to the Coachella Festival with Riverdale co-stars Cami Mendes, KJ Apa, and others.
July 2017 – Behind The Curtains? It’s Not That Easy!
Brace yourselves, because this was legit the first time dating rumours began. Gossip mill had it that Lili Reinhart wore Cole Sprouse’s jacket at the Entertainment Weekly’s Comic-Con party. The couple was spotted holding hands and stealing kisses by eyewitnesses on their trip to San Deigo for the convention.
The same month, a source close to US Weekly confirmed their relationship. “Cole and Lili were holding hands and looked really coupley. Also, the way he grabbed her waist to bring her in for a photo seemed more than friendly,” revealed the source.
August 2017 – One Year Celebration Of Link-Up Rumours?
The Riverdale beauty was back to wishing her rumoured lover again. One year passed by, and nothing had been confirmed yet. This birthday post said a lot as it read, “To the man who has showed me more beautiful places in this past year than I have ever seen in my whole life. Happy birthday, Cole. September – November 2017 – Breaking Silence, Finally!
After a year of speculations, Cole Sprouse was finally at it. But he smartly dodged the question. “People have wanted Lili and Camila to be together. People have wanted KJ and I to be together. People have wanted every actor on this show to be in a union that they could make real. Truthfully, it’s very pleasing that people talk about Lili and I in that way because it means that we’re resonating so strongly that people really want that to be true,” he said to Entertainment Weekly.
The actor dodged the question multiple times in other interviews. It seemed they had planned to keep their relationship low key.
January 2018 – The Not-So-Secret Getaway!
The couple enjoys a getaway in Hawaii. They were spotted getting cosy at the beach. Reinhart even shared a couple of pictures from the destination but ensured that Cole wasn’t part of any.
However, she was multiple times questioned about this vacation. In an interview with V Magazine, she finally opened up about why she prefers to keep her relationships private. “People are just dying to know information about if I’m in a relationship or not. I understand the interest, but it’s called a private life for a reason. They’re going to say that I love KJ, they’re gonna say that I love Cami, and they’re gonna say that I love Cole: it’s inevitable. But I’m not at a point in my life where I’m ready to openly confirm, deny, or talk about a relationship that I’m in, because I think it’s brutal to have a relationship in the spotlight where I can be scrutinized by anyone and everyone,” said the Riverdale star.
March 2018 – Still Not Ready!
At the PaleyFest LA, Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart were openly asked if they were dating. The situation turned tense until the Five Feet Apart actor took the charge and answered, “No comments.”

April 2018 – BUSTED!
Finally, that one small hint that fans had been dying for. The duo was spotted holding hands and kissing on their trip to Paris. Pictures of the same were published by US Weekly and went viral in no time.
They even enjoyed a vacation in Mexico the same month.
May to August 2018 – The Day Has Arrived, It’s OFFICIAL!
Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse finally made their relationship official. They walked the red carpet together and couldn’t keep their hands off each other. We can’t help but accept that they do look like a match made in heaven, complimenting each other just right!
It took 2 years for the actress to finally call him ‘my love.’ It was Cole’s birthday, again and she penned her heart with a mushy post! Sprouse spent his holiday with Lili and her family. They flew together to the actress’ hometown Cleveland.

September-November 2019 – Stronger Than Ever!
Cole Sprouse opened up like never before. His birthday wish for Lili Reinhart included a cute caption that read, “Lil @lilireinhart was born on a Friday the 13th and haven’t I just been so lucky ever since?”
In November, the actress too shared 4 pictures of the couple getting cozy and stealing kisses together. “The sequel,” she wrote hinting that they were back together after a break.

Gossip mill had it that Cole Sprouse is dating Kaia Gerber. The actor took to his Instagram story to quash all the rumours. “When I first stepped into a public relationship this was one of the foreseeable consequences. And while I truly never intended to indulge any part of my private life to the ravenous horde, it’s clear my restraint in updating them has allowed them to push their own agenda onto my habits and lifestyle. May 2020 – “They Were Together”
Riverdale’s Skeet Ulrich aka FP Jones, Cole’s on-screen dad hints at the breakup. A fan during a live session asked, “Do you think that Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart are a cute couple?”
Skeet replied, “I think they were a very cute couple.” His girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin repeated, “They were a very cute couple,” emphasizing on “were.”

The same month Cole’s brother Dylan Sprouse too hinted at the breakup. In a conversation with ET, he hinted that his brother was spending the quarantine with Riverdale co-star KJ Apa. “Him and KJ in the very beginning of quarantine ended up staying together at KJ’s place in Los Angeles. So, they’re isolating together, which is very cute,” Sprouse explained. “I’ve heard a lot of cute stories. I heard they’re just lifting weights and eating cheese… I think that’s what they do,” he shared.
August 2020 – Nooo, It’s OVER!
After several reports of their breakup surfaced online, Lili Reinhart went through the worst phase. In one of her interviews, the actress was talking about dealing with depression. However, she was misquoted and her statements were used as a reaction to break up with Cole Sprouse. She clarified the same tweeting, “Quotes taken from my most recent interview are not about a “breakup.” They are about the depression I’ve felt over these last few months. Tired of people taking my words out of context and piecing together their own story for clickbait.”
A day after, Cole Sprouse took to Instagram and confirmed their split. He shared a picture of Lili and wrote, “Lili and I initially separated in January of this year, deciding to more permanently split in March. What an incredible experience I had, I’ll always feel lucky and cherish that I had the chance to fall in love. I wish her nothing but the utmost love and happiness moving forward. All I’ll say about it, anything else you hear doesn’t matter.”
