The only movie which can justify the current trending of The Lion King is 2016’s The Jungle Book. Both of them are Disney’s attempt at reviving the childhood, both bank on the nostalgia and both are helmed by the same director – Jon Favreau. India, over the years, has developed as a highly potential market for Hollywood films.
Talking about the day-wise collections of both the film, we see a very similar trending. As The Jungle Book release 3 years ago, we clearly see improvement for The Lion King. Both of them opened with almost a crores of difference. The Jungle Book opened with 10.09 crores, whereas The Lion King took it a little higher to 11.06 crores.
On its 2nd and 3rd day, The Lion King just won the ‘trending weekend 1 round’ as it earned 19.15 crores and 24.54 crores respectively on Saturday and Sunday. On the same days, The Jungle Book collected 13.51 crores and 16.87 crores.
