The Lion King Box Office Day 3 Early Trends: Jon Favreau’s remake of 1994 animated cult The Lion King is turning out to be the huge money maker at the Indian box office. After witnessing a phenomenal growth on Saturday, the movie exceeded the expectations on day 3.

The Lion King earned a whopping amount of 19.15 crores on Saturday, which was only expected to rise on Sunday, owing the positive word-of-mouth and decent reviews. On day 3, the movie collected in the range of 22-24 crores as per the early trends. This figure takes the grand total to 52.21-54.21 crores.

Not only has it become one of the best weekend collections for any Hollywood movies in India but also crossed the lifetimes of several movies in its first weekend.

It also recorded the third-highest opening weekend for a Hollywood film in India, after only “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War“.

The film is director Jon Favreau’s update of the 1994 Disney classic of the same name, with photo-realistic, computer-generated animation, and it brings back the adventures of Simba, who is to succeed his father Mufasa as King of the Pride Lands. It narrates a tale of how Simba rises up to the occasion despite several attempts to bring him down by his villainous uncle Scar.

The film opened in India across 2,140 screens on July 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
