A lot of variety this week, but none seems to click at the box-office. Jhootha Hi Sahi is a high-cost dull fare which will entail huge losses to its investors. The John Abraham and Pakhi starrer will do fair business in the multiplexes in the first weekend but that will just not be enough. Thought the publicity for this Abbas Tyrewala film was fairly good quantitatively, the opening was ordinary.

True to his word, Ram Gopal Varma’s Rakht Charitra is very violent. But the film is too violent and crude to be entertaining. Except for pockets in some circuits like U.P., Bihar and C.P.C.I. Rajasthan, it will not find acceptance or appreciation. Collections in multiplexes will be very poor. It will entail heavy losses to all concerned! The business of the Telugu and Tamil versions will be far better. The publicity for Vivek Oberoi’s film was good but not impactful due to excessive violence in the trailers. Thus the opening was very dull and below the mark at most of the places.

The story of the village goldsmith in Dus Tola is an entertaining fare, no doubt, but it won’t work at the box-office because it is more like a TV serial or a stage-play and less like a film. Lack of big names in the cast, poor promotion and a weak title will make the film a non-starter and a loser. The publicity was dull and the opening was pathetic everywhere.
Hisss has too many negatives (script, drama etc.) but only one positive – nudity. Mallika Sherawat’s tale of the new-age naagin will ensnare the audience initially but will not be able to sustain their interest for long because it lacks even average merits. Business in singlescreen cinemas will be fairly nice due to the nudity. The publicity has been average and the opening was okay. The opening was fairly nice in singlescreen cinemas of U.P. and some other pockets but dull otherwise.
Aakrosh has not found acceptance with total collections of Rs. 7,74,43,504 from 398 cinemas. The Sanjay Dutt, Irrfan Khan & Kangna Ranaut starrer Knock Out is very dull with a total Rs. 3,78,76,293 from 330 cinemas. Ramayana The Epic (animation) is a washout and garnered only a total Rs. 50,41,145 from 145 cinemas. Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor’s middle-class lovable story, Do Dooni Chaar, is okay in pockets with a total Rs. 96,26,091 from 113 cinemas. Anjaana Anjaani has a total Rs. 86,72,495 from 154 cinemas. Rajnikant and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Robot (dubbed) raked in a total Rs. 1,86,60,308 from 244 cinemas in its 3rd week. Khichdi The Movie has a total Rs. 26,37,335 from 65 cinemas.
