Oppenheimer achieves a domestic milestone
Oppenheimer got a boost due to the awards season, and it is still playing in over 200 theatres at the North American box office. Currently running in the 32nd week, the film reached the collection of $329 million. With this, it has surpassed 2007’s IT ($328.9 million) to become the fifth highest-grossing R-rated film of all time in the domestic market.
The Oscar 2024 ceremony is scheduled to take place on 10th March, and if Oppenheimer scores a major victory, it might get a big theatrical push at the North American box office, with a tremendous increase in screen count. If that happens, the film might even surpass Joker’s $335.47 million to become the fourth highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
