Murder 2 scored at the box-office in its first weekend (8 July – 10 July) by raking in Rs. 22.7 crore approx (all-India net collections). The Emraan Hashmi, Jacqueline Fernandez starrer had taken a very good opening on Friday.
The film collected Rs. 7.1 crore (Rs 71 million) on its opening day. Collections dropped slightly on Saturday to Rs. 6.6 crore. But Sunday collections went up to Rs. 9 crore. The collections of Murder 2 will be termed excellent, especially considering the low cost of the film.
On the other hand, last week’s other Hindi release, the Salman Khan – UTV production, Chillar Party, failed to attract audiences. In spite of strong promotion by co-producer Salman Khan and an item song featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Chillar Party could not do much at the box-office windows.
