Mission Mangal has passed the Monday box office test as the film showed a normal Friday-Monday drop of 50%. The Akshay Kumar & Vidya Balan led film earned 8.91 crores on Monday taking the 5-day total business to 106.47 crores.
The film has already become the fastest Akshay Kumar movie to cross 100 crore mark and is now gearing up to break some big records. To start with, this Independence Day release has surpassed the lifetime business of Ajay Devgn starrer 2019 comedy film De De Pyaar De (102.40 crores).
In the next days of this week, the film will be targetting the lifetime business of a series of 100 crore grossers like Housefull 3, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Housefull 2, Raazi & Airlift to name a few.
The film will also be chasing down Akshay Kumar’s highest Bollywood grosser Kesari (153 crores) and his highest grosser Tamil film 2.0 in Hindi (188 crores). While it’s certain to cross Kesari, it will be interesting to see if it can beat 2.0 (Hindi) lifetime.

Akshay Kumar who has worked several multi-starrer films in his career earlier said that he finds it “sad” that actors these days are reluctant to sign films having two or more heroes, and instead opt only for films that offer them solo-hero subjects.
“To be honest and without taking names, actors in our industry still don’t understand the fact that they should do two-hero or three-hero subject. They are not doing it. I have tried to find out why they don’t want to do it. Everybody wants to do a solo hero subject. The earlier generation – my generation – did it. They even worked in three-hero subjects,” Akshay said at a promotional event for Mission Mangal.
