Resident Evil Registers Strong Numbers In Thursday Previews
Resident Evil is helmed by Zach Cregger, a name that has already hyped the horror fanatics to hit the big screens. Moreover, as the film is one of the live-action adaptations of a popular video game, the project is highly anticipated by a large audience.

Resident Evil raked in $8.8 million at the North American box office through Thursday previews, ranking as the sixth-highest previews for a horror film ever. The latest entry from the globally praised horror filmmaker has left behind The Conjuring: Last Rites, which collected $8.5 million in its preview. Then comes Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and its first installment, which made $7.2 million and $10.3 million, respectively.
While the zombie apocalypse film did not reach the preview collection of the 2023 film, it has definitely given the sequel tough competition. The biggest preview of all time for a horror entry is that of the first installment of the Pennywise-focused film IT, which grossed $13.5 million in previews.
Coming right after the small-town horror film is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with $13 million, and IT Chapter Two, which achieved $10.5 million during the previews. Backrooms collected $10.4 million during its previews. Looking at this unstoppable pace of Resident Evil, it is clear that the film will collect a huge amount at the box office.
Interestingly, this will be Zach Cregger’s third outing to become a hit, scaring everyone at the movie theaters. For those unversed, Cregger’s Barbarian collected $40.8 million domestically and $5.3 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $46.2 million. The movie’s domestic opening weekend was $10.5, per Box Office Mojo.
Meanwhile, Weapons also received strong praise from horror fans, collecting $151.6 million domestically and $118.5 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $270.1 million.

Directed by Zach Cregger, Resident Evil brings back age-old horror. The movie follows the protagonist Austin Abrams, who plays Bryan in the film. According to the synopsis, “The film follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.”
The outing also stars Paul Walter Hauser as Carl, with Zach Cherry as Dave. Joining these big names from the Hollywood film industry are Kali Reis, who will play the character of Pauline, and Johnno Wilson, in an undisclosed role.
