What Is Emily Lane’s Secret Past In ‘Mistletoe Murders’?
Initially, in Season 1 of ‘Mistletoe Murders’, we all assumed Emily Lane to be just an ordinary Christmas enthusiast who runs a holiday shop. We eventually see her growing close to Detective Sam Wilner and even helping him in investigations. But her good-girl image soon fades when we discover her extraordinary hacking skills.
In Season 2, we get more details about her identity, starting with her real name, Grace. We also get a glimpse into her past during her boarding school years. Back in school, she showed extreme talent in computer programming and took up the username named, Chimera.
We also get a little backstory on her past relationships, including her time with Aaron, a fellow hacker. Eventually, they teamed up and started using their skills together. Even though things were initially harmless, soon things went out of hand.
Aaron’s group, also known as Chimera, became involved in major cybercrimes. It didn’t take long for Grace to discover his dealings with a terrorist group. After a raid, she was left alone by Aaron, only for the CIA to approach her to track him down. After being ultimately betrayed, Grace resorted to the new identity of Emily Lane and settled in Fletcher’s Grove.
Given the backstory, Aaron coming back into her life in Season 3 of ‘Mistletoe Murders’ definitely doesn’t seem like a happy surprise. But Aaron might not be her only problem. Speaking to TV Insider, showrunner Ken Cuperus revealed that Emily might have to return to intelligence work and CIA years.
So, maybe, in Season 3, we will finally get a glimpse of the period between Grace’s arrest and her transforming into Emily Lane. Meanwhile, her relationship with Sam will face the test of time again. Will they be able to stick together?
