Kalki Koechlin’s Margarita With A Straw made a business as expected. Obviously the makers didn’t expect the film to take a flying start at the box-office, as it is suited only for a niche audience, and that it might not necessarily appeal to the masses. The movie collected 50 lakhs on Day 1 i.e. 1st Friday at the Domestic Box Office, which is pretty average!
The film is an inspirational love story about a Delhi university student and aspiring writer afflicted with cerebral palsy, who leaves India for New York University, where she falls for a fiery young activist. Targeted mainly on urban circuits, Margarita With A Straw managed to collect maximum moolah from multiplexes in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi.
