As was expected, Madgaon Express was steady on Sunday as 2.81 crore came in. The good part is that there has been day-on-day growth for the comedy, which opened at 1.63 crore on Friday. However, what’s also true is the fact that though films in general have been seeing good Saturday growth, the quantum is not really the same on Sunday when the growth is much less.
In that aspect, Madgaon Express followed the same trend, though what’s also notable is that there was no BOGO offer this time around. The film’s release timing is good because the partial holiday today would add to the moolah further. That said, there is a point of caution.
On the day of Holi, theatres usually stay closed till the afternoon, and it’s only after 2-3 PM that the screenings resume. Due to this the full day holiday advantage is lost. In simpler terms, it’s still better than a usual weekday, but the holiday factor is largely neutralized. Hence, if the Kunal Kemmu directorial somehow manages to score more than Friday then that would be a win in itself.

That would also mean that the film can aim for a 9 crore+ extended weekend since it has collected 7.16 crore so far. The film deserves to be at least a fair box office success, and the word of mouth that spreads from audiences who watch the film today and tomorrow would be key to that.
