Gunday emerged as the pleasant surprise at the box office as the film fared unusually well despite being a non-Superstar film as such. The film cashed in at the ticket counters this Valentine’s Day became quite a success both in the domestic arena as well as in international arena. The dull box office that hasn’t seen much heightened success since Dhoom 3, finally witnessed the same gusto in this film too. At the conclusion of its first week at the box office, the film has already scored above 100 crores worldwide.
As per the figures procured from the production house, the film has grossed 82 crores (gross total) in India and another 18 Crores gross ($2.9 million) overseas.

Gunday was presented as quite an ode to the cinema of Sensational Seventies. Based in Calcutta during its most unsettled times in the ‘70’s, the film deals with the inseparable life of two young lads Bikram and Bala. The film has more or less received positive reviews from critics and even the masses are preferring it over the other releases from the last few weeks.
