Directing thrillers is certainly not an easy task and who would know that better than director Sanjay Gupta. He is known for his unique films that not only have stylized elements of direction but also gripping tales. He is known to have a niche audience and the director is all set to have his next, Jazbaa, hit the theaters this week.
Starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Irrfan Khan in key roles, the film is a timeline based gripping drama.Jazbaa was being touted to be a special film mainly because actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan makes her Bollywood comeback with it. Post pregnancy, the actress had taken a break from films and signed Jazbaa the moment she was ready to spring back into the industry. Irrfan is already making India proud with his global achievements and his Bollywood films keep proving how fine an actor he is.

Overall Jazbaa is once again a typical Sanjay Gupta film and not just because of it’s green overtone but also because of it’s basic plot. We have to say the only commercial element in this film is Aishwarya.

Gupta’s last film Shootout At Wadala starring John Abraham and Anil Kapoor was a hit at the box office. The film collected 62 crores lifetime and had made an opening of over 10 crores which is quite good for a film coming from that genre. Also his previous films like Zinda, Dus Kahaniyaan have been average performers at the box office.
Since Jazbaa has a good backing thanks to its star cast including veteran actress like Shabama Azmi too, we are expecting the film to open well. We hear, the film has been made on a moderate budget of approximately 30-35 crores. If the film receives good critical acclaim, it will be able to recover it’s costs.
Jazbaa is based on a Korean film titled ‘7 Days’. It is slated to release on 9th October,2015.
