Chennai Express on its opening day began with a great occupancy in most circuits. In urban centers, the film’ s opening day occupancy is in the range of 85%-95% and even more in some selected multiplex regions. In single screens the film mostly opened to house full or near houseful occupancy.

Being a holiday release, the film opened to a brilliant response at the box office what with its preview shows having recorded a good verdict and a great collections of 6.75 crores at the box office.
Going by its opening day occupancy which lives up to the hype that the SRK film had created for itself, the film is expected to collect above 25 crores on its 1st Friday.
