The animation collected $405k at the domestic box office on the first Wednesday of its 20th-anniversary re-release. The movie has declined by almost 30% from Tuesday at the North American box office. In just days, the domestic total of the Disney/Pixar movie has hit the $8.98 million. It will soon hit the $10 million box-office cume in North America during the re-release. The film’s overall domestic total is $253.06 million.

Surpasses the domestic haul of Despicable Me

According to Box Office Mojo‘s report, Cars has surpassed the box office total of Despicable Me in North America. For the unversed, Despicable Me is the first film in the popular franchise. The franchise began in 2010 with Despicable Me, followed by three sequels and three spin-off prequels based on the Minions.

Despicable Me collected $251.6 million at the box office in North America. It is reportedly the 6th-highest-grossing film in the franchise. Cars has officially surpassed the domestic haul of Despicable Me.
