It was 1920 London which had a better start amongst the new Hindi releases. The film collected 2.47 crore on its opening day, which is a fair number. Considering the fact that it is a film that is seeing a delayed release after 2 years and has seen just about decent promotion, the Tinu Suresh Desai directed affair has seen some sort of a start. That said, the film’s opening is much lower than that of 1920 Evil Returns which had brought in 4 crore on its opening day. It in fact went on to collect 12.3 crore over the weekend. The franchise factor has helped this Sharman Joshi-Meerra Chopra starrer to some extent at least.
One Night Stand was the other release of the week and though it is a decent affair, the promotion was way too patchy to warrant a good opening. The film’s release date continued to get changed, hence further confusing the audience around its eventual arrival. The film went on to collect just round 1 crore* and its collections are marginally better than Sunny Leone’s Kuch Kuch Locha Hai [0.75 lakhs].

Manoj Bajpayee and Jimmy Sheirgill starrer Traffic is in fact the best bet of the week. However, this film too saw a delayed release and mainly expected word of mouth to pull it through. However, it has arrived amidst a crowd and hence the collections are way below the mark. Manoj Bajpayee’s Aligarh had collected 50 lakhs on its opening day and as per early reports, the film has collected lesser than that.
