Call a spade a spade – That’s the ‘mantra’ which Vikram Bhatt has followed even in his lows. Now that he is on a career high, he isn’t gaining any diplomatic stance. This means that even as list of nominations for various awards are being drawn, he isn’t a concerned lot.
Says a close associate, “In 2012, Vikram has enjoyed one of the most eventful years of his career. His Raaz 3 turned out to be a superhit, 1920 – Evil Returns is a clean success, Hate Story was the surprise package of the year and the only disappointment was Dangerous Ishhq which was Karisma Kapoor’s comeback vehicle. There are good chances that most of his films may get some nominations either in performances, content or technical categories. However Vikram is least bothered.”
Vikram has a reason behind not even giving this all a thought.
“Vikram is looking at even busier years ahead, what with a five film deal kick-starting with Bhushan Kumar and many other films in the offering. Why think about something that is so uncertain,” the associate continues.
Vikram doesn’t deny carrying resentment towards awards. He says, “On a personal level I think that awards are cr@p. They are given to an actor or an actress of the biggest grosser of the year. That’s the basic calculation involved and nothing more is considered.”
He adds, “Every year when someone gets an award, I can tell you about ten other actors who had performed better and could have instead received an award. Since that never happens, I feel it’s a waste of time to gauge someone’s performance by the number of awards he or she may have got.”
