In a new ad released by PETA US, rocker Duff McKagan and supermodel Susan Holmes stripped down for an anti-fur PETA campaign. Susan Holmes McKagan used to wear fur—but once she learned that animals who are killed for their fur are beaten to death and often skinned alive, she had a change of heart. That’s when she and her husband, bassist Duff McKagan, volunteered for a brand-new anti-fur campaign for PETA US. In the ad, which was shot by top celebrity photographer Robert Sebree, the stars of E!’s Married to Rock reality TV show off their tattoos above the words “Ink, Not Mink—Be Comfortable in Your Own Skin and Let Animals Keep Theirs.”
Duff is known for his work with Guns ‘N Roses, Velvet Revolver, and Jane’s Addiction as well as for his solo project, Duff McKagan’s Loaded. Susan is a supermodel and swimsuit designer who has graced the covers of Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and Playboy, among other magazines. The couple also sat down for an exclusive interview in which they expressed their dismay that people still wear fur. “I think we should know better than that,” says Susan. “Whether you’re a designer or … a celebrity, or a stylist, a photographer—I think everyone should share responsibility in bringing more awareness that, hey, [fur’s] not necessary, it’s out of fashion, it’s completely immoral to the animals.”
The McKagans are the latest celebrities to star in PETA US’ “Ink, Not Mink” anti-fur ad series. Chester Bennington, Tommy Lee, Carey Hart, Steve-O, and Dave Navarro have also participated in the campaign.
