Pakistani actress Veena Malik, her husband Assad Bashir Khan Khattak and media mogul, Geo Tv’s owner Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman have been sentenced to a 26 year old jail term on the grounds of blasphemy. The reason behind this shocking legal action is because the channel aired a blasphemous programme in May, which played a religious song while portraying a mock marriage of Malik with Bashir.

The Anti-terrorism court has also imposed a 1.3 million Pakistani rupees fine on the convicts. The judge has said that all accused can appeal in regional high court in Gilgit-Baltistan. Currently all the four accused are not in Pakistan and so it yet not known when the arrets would be carried out.
