This is definitely not the best of times for Preity Zinta. As if the IPL controversy wasn’t enough, the Azad Maidan police station in Mumbai on 7th December registered a non-cognisable complaint against Preity Zinta’s guards. According to the complaint, Zinta’s guards allegedly hit Hayat Khan for touching her car outside the Bombay high court.
Zinta has been in and out of courts ever since the IPL controversy broke out when her team, Kings XI Punjab, and Shilpa Shetty’s Rajasthan Royals had been expelled from the IPL.
Following the legal wrangles, it is reported that IPL’s Kings XI Punjab, partly owned by Preity Zinta, owes its team members about Rs. 28 crore for the last IPL season. However, in its high court petition against BCCI, Kings XI has given an undertaking that it will pay the players as soon as the BCCI pays its dues of Rs. 22 crore for IPL-3.
But the clouds finally cleared for Preity when the high court ordered a stay on the termination of the IPL franchise agreement with Kings XI Punjab, on 8th December. The actress expressed her relief and gratitude on Twitter, “Yeah KXIP is back in the game! Appreciate all the support my fans & all KXIP fans have given us! Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for being the wind beneath our wings!” While the court sent the dispute between them for arbitration, the interim order subjected Punjab’s participation in the forthcoming IPL seasons to it being able to provide security of $18 million.
