Shah Rukh Khan, also known as the Badshah of Bollywood, is also one of the most popular actors in the whole world, as surveyed by various magazines. Conferred upon the titles such as- ‘Asia’s sexiest man alive’ amongst others, Shah Rukh Khan also remains the only actor in the world to have been awarded by five doctorates, by the most prestigious universities of the world.
After receiving four honorary doctorates, King Khan is being awarded by another doctorate by the University of La Trobe, Australia. The announcement was made during Shah Rukh Khan’s visit to La Trobe University as the chief guest of the 2019 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. La Trobe is the first Australian University to award Shah Rukh Khan with an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Letters (honoris causa), in recognition of his wide-ranging humanitarian work, including establishing the Meer Foundation to support and empower women who have survived acid attacks in India.
Aligned to Shah Rukh Khan’s leadership on humanitarian and social justice causes the university has also announced the Shah Rukh Khan La Trobe University Ph.D. Scholarship. This prestigious four-year Ph.D. scholarship aims to inspire a female researcher from India to undertake research to help find solutions to the growing challenges of our time. The scholarship is being introduced in recognition of Mr. Khan’s dedication to women’s empowerment, through his MEER Foundation.

Shah Rukh Khan who is the first foreign actor to be conferred the Malaysian title of Datuk – akin to a British knighthood – in 2008, received his first honorary doctorate in Arts and Culture from the University of Bedfordshire, the UK on July 10, 2009.
