Two announcements were made in such quick succession last week that it is clear, both are related. It is quite certain that the one is the result of the other. On 17 October came the announcement that the release of Aditya Chopra’s Dhoom:3had been postponed from Christmas 2012 to sometime in 2013. Exactly a day later came the announcement from Arbaaz Khan that Dabangg 2would hit the screens on 21 December 2012. Does this mean that Salman Khan requested Aamir Khan, who, in turn, requested Aditya Chopra to postpone Dhoom:3and leave the 21 December 2012 date for Dabangg 2?
Aamir Khan, Salman Khan
Salman Khan Does Aamir Khan A Favour
Very possible, since a couple of days earlier, Aamir had requested Salman to take his Ek Tha Tigerforward so that he could get his Reema Kagti film on June 1, which would make it the first release after the IPL cricket matches. Salman had graciously agreed and requested Aditya Chopra to postpone Ek Tha Tigerto Eid 2012. Aditya heeded Salman’s request and Aamir got the date he was looking for.
And Aamir Khan Returns It!
Since one good turn deserves another, Salman requested Aamir to postpone Dhoom:3to make way for his Dabangg 2on the occasion of Christmas 2012. Again, Aamir requested Aditya Chopra who graciously agreed. In sum total, Aditya Chopra is the man who has accommodated both his heroes, Salman and Aamir. Salman now has one release (Ek Tha Tiger) on Eid 2012 and another (Dabangg 2) on Christmas 2012. Aamir has his Reema Kagti film coming on the first Friday after the IPL cricket matches. The release date of Dhoom:3is yet to be decided. Aditya Chopra let go off June 1, 2012, but instead opted for Eid 2012 for Ek Tha Tiger. He let go off Christmas 2012 in the case of Dhoom:3but it’s not clear when it will now come.
